Moen Windows & Doors: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
Replacing worn Moen window or door hardware in Los Angeles typically runs $150 – $450 installed for most hinge, latch, or weatherstripping jobs, with full hardware swaps on larger door systems reaching $800. We stock common Moen replacement hardware on our trucks and can usually match your part the same day we look at it. Most homeowners discover the failure the same way: a door that’s suddenly hard to close on summer afternoons, a window that won’t lock, or a handle that spins without catching.
We’re an independent Los Angeles remodeler, not a Moen factory outlet, which means we’re free to tell you straight when a $14 roller is all you need and when the whole assembly has to go. Curtis Lane runs Bradford Remodeling, and he learned early that the right part beats a big invoice every time.
Which Moen Models This Applies To

Moen never sold a full line of windows and doors the way they sell faucets. Their window and door footprint is mostly hardware: locksets, hinges, patio door rollers, handlesets, and threshold assemblies spec’d into builder-grade installations across Southern California. That’s the compatibility gotcha. Moen window and door hardware is not universal. A roller from a 2004 sliding patio door will not fit a 2018 unit, even if both doors are 72 inches wide. The mounting pattern, wheel diameter, and housing depth are different.
Here’s how to identify your part. Look for a stamped number on the hinge leaf, the edge of the handle escutcheon, or the roller housing. That’s the Moen series code. If it’s gone, measure the mounting screw spacing in millimeters and take a photo of the part next to a quarter for scale. That’s usually enough for us to identify it from the truck. For Moen hardware specifically, we recommend factory-spec parts when the assembly is still in production. Quality aftermarket equivalents work fine for older discontinued hardware, and they’re often half the price. We’ll tell you which route fits your case.

Signs Your Moen Windows & Doors Is Failing
Here’s what Los Angeles homeowners actually call us about, and what’s behind each symptom:
- Sliding door gets harder to move in summer. Thermal expansion in Los Angeles heat warps the track slightly, and a worn Moen roller loses its tolerance. The wheel binds instead of rolling. You’ll hear metal dragging on metal.
- Handle spins freely but the latch doesn’t engage. The internal spindle or retainer clip inside the Moen handleset has sheared. It’s a small zinc part that takes all the torque every time you pull the door.
- Window won’t stay open or closed. The Moen balance spring or tilt-latch shoe has failed. Gravity starts winning, and the sash drops hard. That’s how glass gets cracked.
- Door won’t latch on cooler nights. The strike plate has drifted because the door slab expanded or contracted with Los Angeles temperature swings. The Moen latch bolt no longer lines up with the hole it’s trying to hit.
- Draft or dust line at the threshold. The Moen threshold gasket has compressed flat. You’ll see daylight under the door at the corners. In Los Angeles, that’s also how you get ants marching in.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Installed pricing for Moen window and door hardware in Los Angeles breaks down like this:
- Sliding door roller replacement: $150 – $280 per door, including new Moen-spec or equivalent rollers, track cleaning, and adjustment.
- Handleset or latch replacement: $180 – $380 depending on whether we’re swapping just the internal spindle or the full Moen exterior handleset.
- Window balance or tilt-latch repair: $160 – $350 per sash, including removing the sash, repinning the balance, and testing operation.
- Threshold gasket or weatherstripping replacement: $120 – $450 depending on door width and whether the threshold assembly needs re-bedding.
Every one of those numbers is a written price before work starts. You get the part cost, the labor, and the disposal listed separately on the invoice. If the part breaks again inside 365 days, Bradford comes back and fixes it at no charge under the Done Right Promise. That’s in writing too.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check the obvious: look at the roller wheels in the bottom track. If they’re flattened on one side or wobble, that’s your answer. You can also tighten a loose strike plate with a screwdriver, which fixes a surprising number of Los Angeles latch complaints. What you shouldn’t do is pull apart a Moen window sash or door roller housing without knowing which clips and springs are under tension. The balance systems on older windows are loaded, and the wrong move sends a sash into your face. That’s not a scare tactic. It’s just physics.
If you’ve identified the part but don’t want to touch the install, call (903) 568-7222. We’ll match the part, give you a written price, and get it done.
FAQs

Most Moen rollers and latches last 8 – 12 years in Los Angeles before the hardware shows real wear. The sun and dry heat bake out internal lubricants faster than coastal climates, so weatherstripping and gaskets often fail in half that time. Call (903) 568-7222 and we’ll inspect yours.
Sometimes. A roller wheel can often be replaced without swapping the whole housing, and a striker plate can be re-shimmed. But a sheared internal spindle or cracked balance shoe has to be replaced outright. We’ll show you the broken part before we quote the repair, so you know exactly what you’re paying for.
Most single-door or single-window jobs are done in under two hours. That includes removing the old part, installing the new Moen or equivalent hardware, adjusting the operation, and cleaning up the work area. You get a written guarantee in your hand before we leave.
Yes. We carry common Moen rollers, handlesets, latches, and balance assemblies on our Los Angeles trucks. We also stock compatible hardware for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone installations. If your part is unusual, we source it same-week from local suppliers.
