IKO Fence Installation: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

IKO fence installation in Los Angeles typically runs $4,130 to $10,620 for a complete vinyl fence project, and the work usually takes two to four days once materials are on site. We stock IKO-compatible fence components and install them with a written price before any work starts. Most homeowners call us after a section of fence fails at the post line, usually because water sat against the post base through a wet Los Angeles winter or the original install never set posts in concrete deep enough for our soil conditions.

You’ll know it’s not a simple panel swap when posts lean, rails sag, or pickets start pulling away at the top. The IKO product itself holds up well in Southern California UV if it’s installed with proper clearance at grade and the post footings are set below the clay line. When the install was rushed or the post holes were shallow, the fence fails from the bottom up, not the top down. That’s the difference between a product problem and an installation problem, and it changes what you should pay to fix it.

Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO’s vinyl fence line runs in a few distinct series, and the part compatibility is not universal across all of them. The biggest gotcha we see in Los Angeles: IKO’s standard post profiles accept specific rail brackets, and the older bracket design does not interchange with the newer snap-lock rail system. If you have a fence installed before roughly 2018, measure the post wall thickness before buying replacement rails or pickets. Older IKO posts run a thicker gauge wall, and forcing a new rail into an old post will crack the post at the corner.

OEM IKO parts are worth the cost for posts and rails, because the UV stabilizers and color match are factory-controlled. For pickets, a quality aftermarket match usually performs as well as OEM in our climate, and it can trim 15 to 20 percent off the material line without a visible difference. We carry both on the truck, and we’ll show you the side-by-side color match before anything gets ordered. Bradford Remodeling is an independent installer, not an IKO dealer, so our recommendation isn’t tied to moving one SKU over another.

Signs Your IKO Fence Installation Is Failing

  • Posts leaning at the base. This is almost always shallow footings or water wicking up through the post cap. In Los Angeles clay, a post set less than 24 inches deep will start to drift within two years. The fix is a reset, not a brace.
  • Rails sagging between posts. IKO rails carry a factory span rating, and when the installer stretched post spacing beyond spec to save posts, the rail bows. We see this most often on fence lines that were laid out to avoid existing tree roots rather than moved to hit proper centers.
  • Pickets pulling loose at the top. The top rail channel loses grip when the rail flexes, usually because the post nearest a gate or a corner carries more wind load than it should. It starts as a rattle and ends as a missing picket.
  • Discoloration or chalky residue on one side only. Vinyl fades evenly in LA sun unless sprinklers hit one face consistently. Mineral buildup from hard Los Angeles water causes that whitish chalk, and it’s a sign the fence is too close to the spray line.
  • Gate dragging or refusing to latch. A sagging gate on an IKO fence usually traces back to the post the gate hangs from, not the hinges. When that post flexes, the gate geometry goes with it.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A whole-home remodel with the living, dining and kitchen areas opened up

In Los Angeles, a full IKO fence installation runs $4,130 to $10,620 depending on linear footage, post depth requirements, and whether we’re pulling an old fence and hauling it off. A partial repair, like resetting a run of three to five posts and re-hanging existing panels, prices lower within that range. The single biggest cost driver in LA is access: fences on slopes or behind retaining walls take more labor per linear foot than flat, open property lines, and we price that honestly rather than averaging it into a vague square-foot number.

Every quote includes parts, labor, post concrete, haul-away of old materials, and a written workmanship warranty backed by the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the fence fails inside that first year, we return and correct it at no charge. Your written price is the price on the invoice. Curtis Lane signs the scope of work himself before a crew ever rolls up.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely handle two things: measuring your existing post spacing and marking which sections lean, sag, or chalk. That information helps us quote faster and more accurately over the phone. Beyond that, vinyl fence work looks simple and hides real failure points. Digging a post hole in Los Angeles means hitting hardpan or old fill, and setting a post in soil that’s already failed once without oversized footings and proper drainage just guarantees a second failure. Pulling an entrenched post by hand is where backs and fence panels both get wrecked.

If you want to know what you’re actually dealing with before spending anything, call us at (903) 568-7222. We’ll talk through what you’re seeing, give you a straight number for the likely fix, and schedule a site look if it makes sense. No charge for the estimate and no pressure to sign.
