Cover Bathroom Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

If you own a Cover bathroom and the remodel work in it is failing, we replace it. A full Cover bathroom remodel in Los Angeles runs $10,620 to $33,040 installed, and we carry the materials and fixtures to match what Cover specified in your home. Most homeowners discover the problem the same way: cracked grout at the shower pan, a vanity that’s swollen at the base, or tile that’s separated from the substrate behind it. That’s the point where patching stops making sense.

We’re an independent contractor, not affiliated with Cover. But we’ve torn out enough Cover bathrooms across Los Angeles to know exactly what’s behind those walls and what it takes to put it back right. Curtis Lane has been framing and finishing bathrooms from Crenshaw to the Valley for over two decades, and the one thing he’ll tell you straight: the failure you can see is rarely the whole story. The failure you can’t see is why the first remodel didn’t hold.

Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover renovates bathrooms to a standard spec, and that spec varies by the year the home was built. The compatibility question that matters most is what’s behind the tile: Cover-era bathrooms in Los Angeles typically use cement backer board on the shower walls, but we’ve opened up units where greenboard was used instead, and greenboard fails in a wet environment. If we find greenboard, it all comes out. No exceptions.

The second thing to check is your vanity and fixture spacing. Cover bathrooms we see in Los Angeles run standard 30-inch and 36-inch vanity widths, with a center-set or widespread faucet depending on the build year. The difference matters because it changes what fits without moving plumbing. If you want a Kohler or Moen fixture upgrade, we can usually do it on the existing rough-in. If you want to move the drain, that’s a change to the scope and the price, and we’ll give you that number in writing before we touch a wrench.

On the parts decision: OEM Cover fixtures are what came out of the original renovation, but Cover didn’t manufacture them. Most are builder-grade Kohler, Moen, or Delta. You can replace them with the same model for a matched look, or step up to a premium fixture from a brand we stock and document. Bradford Remodeling also works with KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone when the vanity or countertop needs replacing. The spec sheet is yours to see, and every brand name goes in the written scope.

Signs Your Cover Bathroom Remodeling Is Failing

  • Grout cracking along the shower floor perimeter. This means the shower pan is flexing underneath the tile, which usually points to a failed substrate or a pan that was never properly bedded. Water is getting through, and it’s been getting through for a while.
  • Vanity base swelling or peeling at the bottom edge. That’s moisture wicking up from the floor, usually from a drain leak or splash water that never dried. Particleboard vanities die fast once they start drinking.
  • Tile sounding hollow when tapped. Hollow tile means the thinset bond has broken. The tile hasn’t fallen yet, but it will, and the fix is removal and re-set, not caulk.
  • Musty smell that won’t go away. That’s mold in the wall cavity or under the pan. By the time you smell it, the affected material needs to come out, not be treated.
  • Shower door misalignment or water leaking past the sweep. The curb or the wall it’s mounted to has shifted, or the door was never shimmed to a true plumb. In Los Angeles, minor seismic settling pushes this over the edge faster than most owners expect.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A complete Cover bathroom remodel replacement in Los Angeles runs $10,620 to $33,040, and the range is driven by what actually has to come out. A small bathroom with a standard alcove tub and a single vanity sits at the lower end. A primary bath with a walk-in shower, double vanity, and custom tile work climbs toward the top. Here’s the line-item reality:

  • Full bathroom remodel: $10,620 – $33,040
  • Small bathroom remodel: $5,900 – $14,160
  • Walk-in shower installation: $5,310 – $14,160
  • Tub-to-shower conversion: $4,130 – $11,800
  • Shower replacement only: $3,540 – $10,030
  • Vanity installation: $945 – $3,540

The price you get is a written price, before any work starts, and it doesn’t move at the door. That’s the rule at Bradford Remodeling, and it’s enforced by The Garrison Standard. Every completed job carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the work fails within a full year, we come back and fix it at no charge. You get that in writing, signed, at job close.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself: whether the vanity is level, whether the grout is cracked, whether the shower door moves when you press on it. That tells you what’s failing. It doesn’t tell you what’s behind it, and opening a shower wall without knowing what you’re looking for is how a $400 patch becomes a $6,000 repair.

The dangerous part of bathroom remodeling isn’t the tile. It’s what’s behind it: the plumbing rough-in, the electrical for GFCI outlets, and the possibility of asbestos in older Los Angeles homes. If the remodel was done decades ago, that’s a real question, and it’s not one to guess at. We’re trained for this. If you just want to know what you’re dealing with, call (903) 568-7222 and we’ll give you the straight read over the phone before you spend anything.
