ActiveYards Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If your ActiveYards driveway system has a failing component, we stock the replacement parts and can install them for a typical Los Angeles job range of $295 to $825 for sealing and surface work, up to $8,260 to $21,240 for a full paver driveway installation. We match the part to your specific ActiveYards series before touching anything. The most common symptoms we see are shifting pavers, pooling water, and edge restraints that have pulled loose from the soil.
Los Angeles homeowners usually discover the problem after the first heavy rain of the season. A section of pavers dips, the border row drifts outward, or the sand joints wash out and leave gaps. You’ll notice it walking to the car or rolling the trash bin out. It’s not dramatic, but it gets worse every month if it’s left alone.
Which ActiveYards Models This Applies To

ActiveYards sells driveway and paver systems under a few different series names, and the part numbers are not interchangeable across all of them. The two things that matter most when matching a part: the width of the paver unit and the edge restraint profile. ActiveYards has changed its edge restraint system twice in the last decade, which means a restraint clip from a 2018 install often won’t seat on a 2023 border row.
Here’s what we check before quoting: the stamped code on the underside of a removed paver, the measured paver thickness (usually 60mm or 80mm for driveway-rated units), and the condition of the base layer underneath. If you can’t find a stamp, we match by dimension. For ActiveYards specifically, we generally recommend OEM parts when the system is under ten years old and the manufacturer batch is still available. After that, a matched aftermarket equivalent from Belgard or Unilock often costs 20 to 30 percent less and holds up the same in Los Angeles conditions, because it’s the same concrete paver technology with a different mold pattern.
Bradford Remodeling is an independent service provider. We are not affiliated with ActiveYards, and we don’t claim to be. What we do is stock compatible parts, match them to the right series, and install them so the repair stays put.

Signs Your ActiveYards Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Edge restraint pulling away from the paver border. The plastic or aluminum edging has lost its anchor into the base and is flexing outward. This is the number one failure we see in Los Angeles, usually after two or three wet winters when the base rock has settled unevenly. Once the edge goes, the entire field starts to drift.
- Sand joints washing out or sprouting weeds. Joint sand is the friction that locks pavers together. When it erodes, pavers start to shift under load. In Los Angeles, the wet-dry cycle of winter rains followed by summer heat accelerates this faster than in milder climates.
- Pavers dipping or creating a low spot. This points to base failure underneath, not a paver problem. The unit itself is almost never what failed. Water pools, the base softens, and the pavers sink. You can replace the paver, but if the base isn’t corrected, the same dip returns within a season.
- Chipped or cracked paver faces along the tire track. This happens when the base has compacted unevenly and the paver is now bridging a void. Vehicle weight hits the unsupported paver and it cracks. The cracked paver is the symptom. The void is the cause.
- Border row shifting out of line. The field of pavers is pushing outward because the edge restraint failed or was never installed deep enough. Left alone, the border gap widens, and the outer pavers eventually drop into the gap.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Los Angeles, here is what we quote on ActiveYards driveway and paver work:
- Driveway sealing and joint sand replenishment: $295 to $825
- Paver repair (spot replacement of 5 to 15 units, base correction): $590 to $1,770 depending on the depth of base work
- Paver driveway installation (new full system): $8,260 to $21,240
- Paver patio installation: $4,130 to $12,980
The range is driven by three things: square footage, the condition of the existing base, and whether we’re matching an ActiveYards pattern that requires cutting or a pattern we can lay with full units. Every quote we give in Los Angeles is a written price before work starts. It includes parts, labor, haul-off of old material, and the base correction needed so the repair doesn’t fail the same way twice. You’ll know the number before we put a shovel in the ground, and that number does not move at the door.
Every job we complete is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If the repair or installation fails within one year, we come back and correct it at no charge. That is in writing, and you’ll have a signed copy in your hand when the site is clean and the job is closed.
DIY or Call Us?
There are things you can check yourself. Look at the edge restraint: if you can see it pulling away, take a photo. Check the joint sand: if you can sweep a gap with a broom and it stays open, the sand has washed out. Check for low spots after rain. Those observations help us quote faster.
What we don’t recommend is digging out pavers and rebuilding a section yourself. The base material in Los Angeles is often a mix of decomposed granite and compacted aggregate that looks stable from the top and isn’t. If you excavate and repack it wrong, you’ll get a dip that returns within six months and now you’ve also voided any chance of matching the existing compaction. It costs more to fix a bad DIY base repair than the original problem would have cost to fix properly.

FAQs

ActiveYards concrete pavers typically last 25 to 40 years in Los Angeles when the base is installed correctly and the joint sand is maintained. The pavers themselves rarely break down; what fails first is usually the base or the edge restraint, which is why we inspect both before quoting any repair. Call (903) 568-7222 if you want us to look at your system.
A cracked or chipped paver cannot be repaired in place; it must be pulled and swapped with a matching unit. What often can be repaired is the underlying base, the edge restraint, or the joint sand. We do that work without replacing the whole driveway. Call (903) 568-7222 for a quote on what your specific section needs.
Most spot repairs and section rebuilds take one to two days. A full paver driveway installation runs three to five days depending on square footage and base excavation depth. We sequence the work so your driveway is usable each evening when possible, and the written quote includes the schedule before we start.
We stock common ActiveYards-compatible edge restraints, joint sand, and color-matched paver units for the most widely installed Los Angeles series. Non-stock units are ordered by dimension and finish, which adds a few days. We also work with name-brand paver lines including Belgard and Unilock when a matched alternative makes more sense for the age and condition of your driveway. Call (903) 568-7222 and we’ll confirm what’s available for your model.
