Blanco Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

If you’re looking for a Blanco-compatible driveway or paver replacement part in Los Angeles, here’s the straight answer: we stock common Blanco paver sizes and edge restraints, we match them to your existing layout, and installed paver driveway work in Los Angeles typically runs $8,260 – $21,240 depending on square footage and substrate condition. Most owners don’t discover a failed paver section until the rainy season hits and a low spot turns into a pond, or a vehicle tire starts sinking a half-inch in a spot that used to be dead flat. The pavers themselves rarely fail first. What fails first is what’s underneath them: the base, the edge restraint, the joint sand, or the drainage pitch. That’s the part most people actually need fixed, and it’s the part we start with before we ever order a single replacement paver.

Which Blanco Models This Applies To

Blanco manufactures paver systems in a few distinct lines, and matching the right replacement means knowing which one you’re standing on. The Blanco Permeable line uses wider joint gaps (typically 8 – 12mm) and a specialized open-graded base that lets water pass through. The Blanco Standard Architectural line uses tighter joints and a compacted aggregate base with a sand setting bed. The Blanco Tumbled line has softer edges and slightly irregular dimensions, which means a “matching” replacement paver from a big-box store will be visibly off in both color and edge profile.

The gotcha most Los Angeles homeowners run into: paver color varies by production lot. A paver bought today from the same Blanco line will not perfectly match pavers installed five years ago that have been baking in San Fernando Valley sun and absorbing car oil in Westchester. We order from the current Blanco lot and do a blend-in pattern across the repaired section so the difference fades rather than stripes. If you have a leftover pallet or a spare stack from the original install, that’s gold. We’ll use those first and tell you honestly whether the remaining fade difference is acceptable before we lay anything.

For the record: Bradford Remodeling is an independent Los Angeles contractor. We install and repair Blanco-compatible systems, but we are not affiliated with Blanco, and we don’t claim to be.

Signs Your Blanco Driveway & Pavers Is Failing

Here’s what actually shows up before a paver section needs real work:

  • Standing water that lingers more than 30 minutes after rain. This means the pitch has settled or the base has washed out underneath. In Los Angeles, the clay-heavy soil in areas like Pasadena and the eastern San Gabriel Valley expands and contracts hard with moisture, and that movement is what slowly destroys the base layer.
  • A single paver or small cluster sinks when you step on it. The base under that spot has lost compaction. This is almost never the paver’s fault. Pulling the pavers and re-compacting the base fixes it; replacing the paver without fixing the base just means it sinks again in six months.
  • Weeds or grass pushing up through joints in straight lines. The joint sand is gone and root pathways have formed. Left alone, roots widen the joints and shift the pavers sideways. This is most common against lawn edges and planter beds.
  • Edge pavers spreading outward or tipping at the driveway border. The edge restraint, usually a plastic or aluminum strip staked into the base, has failed or was never installed properly. Pavers are a system; when the edge lets go, the whole field starts drifting.
  • White chalky residue blooming across paver surfaces. Efflorescence. It’s cosmetic rather than structural, but in Los Angeles’s dry-wet cycles it keeps returning unless the pavers are sealed after cleaning. It’s also a sign the pavers are absorbing water, which shortens their surface life.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A stone counter, tile backsplash and open shelf after a kitchen remodel

Paver driveway installation in Los Angeles runs $8,260 – $21,240 from Bradford Remodeling, with most full replacements landing in the $12,000 – $16,000 range for a standard two-car driveway. A localized repair, like resetting a sunken 60-square-foot section and rebuilding the base, typically falls in the $1,500 – $3,500 range depending on access and how far the base damage extends. Here’s the breakdown:

  • Demolition and removal: $1 – $2 per square foot, more if the old base is concrete rather than compacted aggregate.
  • Base rebuild: $2 – $4 per square foot for new compacted aggregate with geotextile fabric, which is what prevents the clay soil movement under Los Angeles driveways from wrecking the new work.
  • Blanco-compatible pavers: $6 – $12 per square foot installed, depending on the line and whether we’re blending into existing stock.
  • Edge restraint and joint sand: included in the paver line item, but worth knowing it’s there and that we don’t skip it.

Every quote is a written line-item price before we start. You’ll know what the pavers cost, what the base costs, and what the labor costs. No number moves at the door. And every paver job we complete carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the base settles, the edge lets go, or the work fails inside a year, we return and correct it at no charge.

DIY or Call Us?

You can safely check a few things yourself. Walk the driveway after a rain and mark every spot that holds water with chalk. Push down on pavers that look lower than their neighbors and see how many move. Check whether the edge restraint is visible anywhere along the border. That’s useful information to have before you call us, and it costs you nothing.

What you shouldn’t do is pull pavers and start digging if you don’t know what’s underneath. If your driveway sits over utility lines, gas runs, or a sewer lateral, a shovel can turn a $2,000 paver repair into a $20,000 problem in about five seconds. Almost every home in older Los Angeles neighborhoods like Mid-City and Highland Park has something buried under that driveway that predates the current code. We locate and mark those lines before we dig. If you’re not sure whether your issue is surface-level or base-level, call (903) 568-7222 and describe what you’re seeing. We’ll tell you over the phone whether it sounds like a simple reset or a full base rebuild, and the estimate is free.
