Boxabl Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
We install Boxabl-compatible driveway surfaces and paver systems across Los Angeles, with pavers running $8,260 to $21,240 for a full driveway and concrete at $5,310 to $14,160. We stock common Boxabl site-prep materials on the truck and can usually start within a week of the written estimate. Most owners discover the problem the hard way: a low corner at the curb, a paver that sank after the first rain, or a delivery crew that couldn’t set the unit level because the pad had settled.
Boxabl units sit on a steel chassis, which means the driveway and approach surface have to handle a different load pattern than a standard car pad. The chassis concentrates weight at specific points, and if your pad was poured without accounting for that, you’ll see cracking right where the unit’s corners bear down. We see it regularly in Los Angeles, especially on clay-heavy lots in the Valley and on sloped driveways in neighborhoods like Echo Park and Mount Washington.
Which Boxabl Models This Applies To

Every Boxabl model, including the Casita and any accessory structure built on the same folding chassis, requires a level approach surface rated for concentrated corner loads. That applies whether the unit is set on a poured slab, a paver pad, or a compacted gravel bed with a concrete approach. The critical measurement is the chassis footprint, not the unfolded square footage. You want the pad to extend at least 18 inches beyond the chassis on all four sides so the folding walls have clearance during setup and the weight distributes evenly.
Boxabl does not sell driveway materials directly, and Bradford Remodeling is an independent contractor, not affiliated with Boxabl. For OEM compatibility, you only need to confirm your site plan shows the correct load rating for the chassis points. After that, the material choice is yours. We default to Belgard pavers or a 4-inch reinforced concrete pour with fiber mesh, both of which exceed the load requirements. A lot of owners ask about cheaper aftermarket pavers from the home center. They’ll work, but you lose the manufacturer’s warranty, and in Los Angeles sun, the cheap ones fade unevenly within two summers.

Signs Your Boxabl Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Cracking radiating from where the unit’s corners sit. This is a load-concentration failure. The pad wasn’t poured thick enough or the sub-base wasn’t compacted for point loads.
- A paver edge that sinks after rain. Water is getting under the border and washing out the sand base. In Los Angeles, this shows up fast on hillside lots where runoff channelizes.
- Visible settlement at the curb cut. The approach slab has pulled away from the street concrete, leaving a lip that scrapes the tow vehicle or delivery trailer.
- Hairline cracks running parallel to the street. This is California clay expansion and contraction. Without proper sub-base prep, the whole pad moves seasonally.
- Standing water pooling against the chassis rails. The pad has lost its slope. Water sitting against steel accelerates corrosion, and a rusted chassis means a much bigger problem than pavers.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, a paver driveway replacement runs $8,260 to $21,240 depending on square footage, access, and whether we’re pulling the old pad first. A concrete driveway replacement lands between $5,900 and $16,520 when removal and haul-off are included. Driveway sealing, which extends the life of an otherwise sound surface, runs $295 to $825. Every quote includes the written price before we start, and that price does not move at the door. You get a line-item breakdown: materials, labor, haul-off, and sub-base prep listed separately.
What drives the range most in Los Angeles is access. A standard two-car drive with street access is straightforward. A hillside lot off a narrow canyon road in Laurel Canyon or Beachwood Canyon means smaller equipment, more hand work, and a longer day. That’s not a markup. It’s labor. We explain that on the written estimate, and we won’t send a change order after the fact. The Garrison Standard says every number is in writing before a single tool comes out, and that’s how Curtis Lane runs this crew.
DIY or Call Us?
A homeowner can safely check the slope with a 4-foot level and mark where water is pooling. You can also photograph cracks month to month to see if they’re moving. What you should not attempt on your own is lifting or re-setting pavers under a Boxabl chassis. The unit’s weight is concentrated enough that a jack, a pry bar, or a poorly supported corner can shift the structure. If the chassis moves while you’re under it, that’s a crush injury. Call us at (903) 568-7222. We’ll send a background-checked crew, written estimate in hand, and you won’t be guessing whether the fix is right.
FAQs

A properly installed concrete or paver pad with a compacted sub-base lasts 25 to 35 years in Los Angeles, though surface sealing every 3 to 5 years extends that. Sun and clay movement are the two things that shorten lifespan here. Call (903) 568-7222 and we’ll assess your specific pad.
If the sub-base has failed, patching won’t hold. We do spot repairs where the base is sound and only the surface has cracked, but a Boxabl chassis sitting on a moving pad means the repair has to address the sub-base, which usually points to replacement. Estimates are free.
Concrete removal, sub-base recompaction, and a new pour typically takes 3 to 5 working days in Los Angeles, with pavers running 4 to 7 depending on the pattern and border work. You’ll get the timeline in writing on your estimate.
We stock Belgard pavers, concrete materials, and sub-base aggregate, and we order any specific paver line direct. You don’t need to source anything. We also work with other brands we trust, including KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone on broader projects, but driveway work is all pavers, concrete, and compaction.
