CGI Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
CGI driveway and paver parts in Los Angeles typically cost $295 to $21,240 installed, depending on whether you’re sealing what’s there, replacing a section, or pulling up the whole run and starting fresh. Most paver-related failures show up as a sunken edge, a cracked cap, or a section that’s lost its sand and started to shift. Bradford Remodeling stocks CGI-compatible paver and driveway materials locally, and our technicians can assess what failed, match the replacement to your existing layout, and give you a written price before any work begins.
Here’s the typical story we hear: a homeowner in Sherman Oaks or Torrance walks their driveway every day, then one morning it looks off. A corner has dropped half an inch. A paver cracked over the winter. Water pools where it used to drain. Nobody budgets for it. But once a paver moves, water works its way under the adjacent ones, the sand bed washes out, and the problem spreads faster than most people expect. Our job is to catch it before a small dip becomes a full section replacement.
We’re an independent Los Angeles service provider, not affiliated with CGI. What that means for you: we match parts honestly, tell you when an aftermarket paver will blend in fine, and tell you when only an OEM-spec product will keep your layout looking right. Curtis Lane runs Bradford Remodeling on that principle: straight number, real scope, no surprises at the punch list.
Which CGI Models This Applies To

CGI produces concrete pavers, driveway pavers, and retaining-wall systems in modular formats. Most Los Angeles driveways using CGI products are built on their standard interlocking paver series, sized 12″ × 12″, 16″ × 16″, or larger format 24″ × 24″ slabs. The first step in matching a replacement is measuring the paver itself and checking the back of the unit for the manufacturer stamp or lot code. That stamp tells us the mold, color blend, and production batch. If the stamp is worn off, we match by measuring the thickness (usually 60mm or 80mm for driveway-rated units), the edge profile, and the color tone against the surrounding field.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha every Los Angeles homeowner should know: color blends drift. A paver made in CGI’s 2019 production run will not match a paver made today, even if the color name is identical. UV exposure in LA weather, which runs hot and dry eight months a year, fades surface pigments. So a brand-new unit placed next to a five-year-old paver will look brighter and slightly off. For isolated cracks, we often pull a matching unit from an edge or under a planter and place the new one where it’s less visible. For larger repairs, we order tint-matched stone and sometimes re-bond the entire field with a color sealant so the repair disappears. That’s a call we make with you before any money changes hands.
On the OEM vs. aftermarket question: for structural applications like driveway aprons and vehicle-load areas, we recommend OEM-spec CGI pavers or their rated equivalent. The compressive strength spec matters. Driveway-rated pavers need to hold at least 8,000 psi. Cheaper aftermarket pavers may be rated for foot traffic only, and we’ve seen plenty of cracked 60mm slabs in Los Angeles driveways where someone installed patio-grade pavers to save money. For paths and pool decks, aftermarket equivalents can work fine if the dimensions and thickness match. If you have KraftMaid, Cambria, or Silestone products elsewhere on the property, we handle those replacement projects as well, but driveway work has its own set of rules.

Signs Your CGI Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Settling edges along the driveway perimeter. The sub-base under the edge stones has eroded or was never compacted deeply enough. In Los Angeles, winter rain gets blamed first, but we regularly trace this back to a shallow gravel base or a missing edge restraint. Once the edge stone drops, the whole field follows.
- Pooling water or soft, spongy sand between joints. The joint sand has washed out and water is sitting underneath the pavers. Left alone, this causes the base to wash away in channels, and pavers start to rock. You’ll hear it first: a clicking sound when you walk across.
- Cracked or chipped pavers, especially along the tire track. Vehicle load on a paver that isn’t fully bedded will snap the corners. Once a crack runs through a paver, its structural value is gone. The neighbors crack next within a season as load transfers.
- Weeds or grass growing through the joints. This means the joint sand is gone and moisture has gotten down into the bedding layer. Weeds are the cheap early warning sign most people ignore until they own a paver removal project.
- Efflorescence, fading, or surface flaking on the pavers. That white chalky residue is mineral deposits coming through the paver pores, common in Los Angeles where tap water runs hard. Surface flaking, or spalling, usually means water got trapped in the paver and the surface froze on a cold high-desert night or delaminated from age. It’s cosmetic at first, but spalled pavers absorb more water and deteriorate faster.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For CGI-style paver driveway work in Los Angeles, expect to pay $295 to $825 for a basic driveway sealing, $4,130 to $12,980 for paver patio installation, and $8,260 to $21,240 for a full paver driveway installation on a new or rebuilt base. If your driveway needs replacement work in the $5,900 to $16,520 range, that typically means demolition of the old surface, base repair or regrading, and new installation. A 200-square-foot repair section usually falls in the $2,000 to $6,000 range depending on access, base condition, and whether we match the existing layout or something needs to be redone. Those are real numbers, and we put them in writing before we start.
Every job includes demolition and haul-off of the failed section, compaction of the sub-base, new bedding sand, CGI-compatible pavers, joint sand, edge restraints, and a written line-item price. We also pull any permits Los Angeles requires when the work meets the threshold, and every project from Bradford Remodeling carries the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the finished work fails within a year, we return and make it right at no charge. That’s not a handshake. It’s written into the contract you sign.
DIY or Call Us?
Things you can safely do yourself: sweep the joints and check for washout, mark settled areas with a chalk line so you can track movement, and keep downspouts directed away from the driveway edge. These tiny checks will tell us a lot before we arrive.
Things we’d tell you not to DIY: pulling up pavers to re-bed them under vehicle traffic. Most Los Angeles driveway failures trace back to a base problem, not the paver itself. If the base is weak or washed out, lifting and resetting the surface stones without recompacting the gravel underneath will look good for about eight months and then fail again. You’ll spend more redoing it than we’d charge to do it once. Same for working near gas lines or irrigation mains under a driveway, which means calling 811 and knowing what’s buried before you dig. If you’re not sure, call us at (903) 568-7222 and we’ll give you a straight answer about whether it’s worth fixing or worth replacing.
FAQs

A properly installed CGI paver driveway with a compacted base lasts 25 to 30 years in Los Angeles. The pavers themselves can go longer. What fails first is the base, which means the pavers shift, separate, and crack under load. Surface damage typically shows up around the 10 to 15 year mark, which is where most of our repair work begins. Call (903) 568-7222 for a free assessment if your driveway is in that window.
One cracked paver is usually repairable, but it requires pulling the unit and checking what’s underneath. If the base is sound, we swap the paver and re-sand the joints. If the crack is a symptom of a soft spot, that section needs the base repaired, not just the paver. Call (903) 568-7222 and we can tell you which one you have before we write the estimate.
Most isolated paver repairs finish in one day, including base compaction and joint sanding. A full paver driveway replacement in Los Angeles typically runs 3 to 5 working days depending on size, access, and whether we’re removing old concrete first. You’ll see a written timeline on the estimate.
We stock common CGI-compatible 60mm and 80mm driveway pavers in standard gray, charcoal, and tan blends, which covers a lot of Los Angeles driveways. Custom colors or unusual formats get ordered, and we’ll tell you the lead time up front. Either way, the price is set before you commit.
