Cover Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you have a Cover kitchen and the remodel is failing, Bradford Remodeling handles it. A full Cover kitchen remodel in Los Angeles runs $16,520 to $53,100 installed, depending on scope, materials, and what’s behind the existing walls. Most owners call us when they notice water staining under the sink, delaminating cabinet faces, cracked countertop seams, or tile that’s begun to pull away from the substrate. The failure is rarely the surface you can see. It’s almost always what’s underneath it.
We’re an independent Los Angeles remodeling contractor. We are not affiliated with Cover, and we don’t represent their warranty. What we do is fix Cover kitchens properly, which means pulling the failed components, inspecting the framing and substrate, and rebuilding to a standard that holds. Call (903) 568-7222 for a written estimate before any work starts.
Which Cover Models This Applies To

Cover kitchens are built on a modular platform, which means the cabinetry, countertops, and panel systems are sized to factory tolerances rather than field-cut. That’s the critical thing to understand before you touch anything. A standard 36-inch sink base from Cover is not the same as a big-box 36-inch sink base. The toe kick height, the rail spacing, the hinge boring pattern, all of it follows Cover’s own spec sheet. Get it wrong and you’ll have a cabinet that looks right for about six months, then starts sagging at the face frame.
When we open a Cover kitchen in Los Angeles, we first check the cabinet door hinge boring and the drawer glide mounting points. Cover uses European-style cup hinges with specific overlay dimensions, and the drawer boxes ride on under-mount glides that are rated for a specific load. If the part failed, there’s usually a model label inside the sink base cabinet or on the back of a drawer front. Take a photo of that label before you do anything else. It has the series number and production date, and it saves us a trip back to confirm the order.
For replacement parts, you have two paths. OEM Cover components match exactly, but lead times in Los Angeles can run four to six weeks depending on the series. Quality aftermarket equivalents, especially for hinges, glides, and drawer boxes, often arrive faster and carry their own manufacturer warranty. We install both and we’ll give you the written price for each option so you can decide with the numbers in front of you. KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone are among the brands we regularly source when a full component replacement makes more sense than a patch.

Signs Your Cover Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Cabinet doors no longer align or close flush. Hinge fatigue is the usual culprit. Cover hinges are decent, but Los Angeles humidity swings near the coast cause the particleboard core to expand and contract, which loosens the hinge screws over time. Once the screw holes wallow out, the door drops and the reveal goes uneven.
- Drawer glides bind or the drawer rides uneven. Under-mount glides fail when the mounting clip breaks or the rail gets loaded beyond its rating. Heavy cookware in a lower drawer accelerates this. The symptom is a drawer that sticks on one side, then drops a quarter inch when you pull it.
- Countertop seam opens or the edge band peels. Laminate and thermofoil edges fail along the sink cutout first. Water gets under the edge banding, the adhesive lets go, and the substrate underneath starts to swell. Once the substrate swells, the seam will never sit flat again, no matter how much silicone you run in it.
- Water staining on the cabinet floor under the sink. This is the one you can’t ignore. By the time the stain shows, the particleboard has already absorbed enough moisture to lose structural integrity. The floor of the sink base will start to feel spongy. That’s not a clean-and-dry situation. That’s a replacement.
- Backsplash tile cracks or grout keeps crumbling out. Cover kitchens often go in over drywall that was never properly prepped for tile in a high-movement wall. Los Angeles sits in seismic country, and the small flex that runs through a wall during a quake, or even just from door slamming, cracks rigid grout lines. If the grout keeps failing, the substrate behind the tile is moving.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Here’s the honest pricing for Cover kitchen remodeling in Los Angeles. A full remodel runs $16,520 to $53,100. A smaller kitchen refresher typically lands between $10,620 and $23,600. Cabinet installation alone runs $4,720 to $15,340. Countertop installation is $2,360 to $7,670. Backsplash installation runs $945 to $2,950. Kitchen island installation is $3,540 to $11,800.
The spread comes down to three things: what’s behind the existing surfaces, which materials you choose, and how much of the original cabinet structure can be salvaged. Every Bradford Remodeling estimate in Los Angeles includes a written line-item breakdown. Parts, labor, disposal, and any required substrate repair are all listed separately. The price you sign is the price you pay. No change orders at the door, no re-pricing once we open the wall. The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the completed work for a full year. If something we installed fails inside that window, we come back and correct it at no charge. That’s in writing, every time.
DIY or Call Us?
You can check a few things safely before you call. Pull a drawer and look at the glide mounting clips. Open a lower cabinet and press on the floor under the sink. Run your hand along the countertop edge near the sink cutout and feel for swelling. Those checks tell you what’s failing. They don’t tell you whether the substrate behind it is sound.
Where DIY goes wrong is when a homeowner tries to re-hang a door with longer screws, or fills a swollen seam with silicone, or rebuilds a sink base without addressing the water source that caused the rot in the first place. You end up with a kitchen that looks acceptable for three months and then fails worse than before. Cabinet work on a modular platform like Cover requires knowing the exact boring and mounting specs. Get it wrong and you’ll be paying twice. Call (903) 568-7222. Curtis Lane will give you a straight number and a real scope before any work begins.
FAQs

A properly rebuilt Cover kitchen in Los Angeles should last 15 to 25 years on the cabinet boxes and 10 to 20 on the countertops and hardware, assuming the substrate was corrected and the materials are mid-grade or better. The original Cover installation often fails earlier because of substrate issues and Los Angeles humidity, not because the cabinet components themselves were defective. Call (903) 568-7222 and we’ll inspect what’s actually failing at your house.
Sometimes yes. If the hinge boring is intact, the drawer boxes are square, and the substrate is dry, we can replace individual components. If the sink base floor has rotted or the countertop substrate has swelled, patching it will buy you a year at most. We’ll tell you which situation you have and write both options, repair and full replacement, so you can see the real numbers. Estimates are free.
Most Cover kitchen remodels in Los Angeles take 4 to 8 weeks from demo to final punch list. Small component swaps like hinge and glide replacement can be done in a single day. The timeline depends on material lead time, especially for OEM Cover parts, and whether the framing or subfloor needs correction. We sequence demo, rough-in, and finish work so the job keeps moving and you’re not living with a torn-up kitchen for months.
Our trucks carry the common failure points: European cup hinges in standard overlays, under-mount glide sets, drawer box hardware, and cabinet floor panels. Cover-specific parts we order to spec using the model label inside your cabinet, and we’ll give you the lead time and written price before the order goes in. Call (903) 568-7222 and describe what you’re seeing. A live person answers.
