ECO Window Systems Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If your ECO Window Systems driveway or paver hardscape has failed, we stock and install compatible replacement materials throughout Los Angeles, with most paver driveway replacements running $8,260 to $21,240 depending on square footage, substrate condition, and access. You’ll know the part has failed when you see pavers shifting out of alignment, low spots holding water after rain, or cracked units around the driveway apron. We’re an independent Los Angeles contractor, not affiliated with ECO Window Systems, but we work with their dimensional tolerances and paver profiles daily.
The failure you’re looking at usually starts beneath the surface. Los Angeles soil, especially in hillside zones like Silver Lake and Mount Washington, expands and contracts through wet-dry cycles that punish a poorly compacted base. The pavers themselves rarely fail first. The substrate does. We see it on tear-outs all over the Basin: three inches of decomposed granite that was never plate-compacted, sand joints washed out, and then the whole field starts to drift. Curtis Lane has been digging up failed paver work since his Trade-Tech days on Washington Boulevard, and the diagnosis is almost always the same: the base was shorted, and the pavers took the blame.
Which ECO Window Systems Models This Applies To

ECO Window Systems manufactures dimensional paver lines under a few series names you’ll see stamped on the underside of the unit or on the original invoice. The most common in Los Angeles are the ECO Permeable series, which uses a wider joint gap and a different base spec, and the ECO Architectural slab line, which runs larger format and requires a stricter tolerance on the setting bed. If your pavers are 60mm thick, you’re likely looking at the standard series; 80mm units are the heavy-duty line rated for driveway vehicle loads.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha most homeowners hit: ECO’s paver profiles changed slightly in 2019. The interlocking ribs on the newer units will not seat cleanly against the older profile. If you’re matching a section rather than replacing the whole field, you need to confirm the production date. We do this by pulling one paver, checking the mold code on the bottom, and matching against the current ECO spec sheet. On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question: for ECO specifically, we recommend staying OEM on any paver you’re blending into an existing field. Aftermarket equivalents from Belgard or Unilock are quality products, but the color lots and edge profiles won’t match what’s already down. The minute you mix manufacturers mid-field, the seam shows.

Signs Your ECO Window Systems Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Pavers rocking underfoot or under tire. This means the setting bed has eroded or was never compacted to spec, leaving individual units unsupported at the corners. It starts as a faint click and turns into a cracked paver within a season.
- Low spots holding water 48 hours after rain. Los Angeles doesn’t get much rain, so when we do, it exposes base failure fast. Ponding means the subgrade has settled and the compaction was inadequate from day one.
- Sand joints washing out after every rain. Joint sand should stay put for years if the edge restraint is sound. If you’re sweeping sand back into the joints every winter, the perimeter is letting go and the field is starting to creep.
- Crumbling edges on the driveway apron. Vehicle loading at the transition from street to driveway concentrates stress right at the apron. ECO pavers handle it, but only if the base extends past the edge restraint. When the base is short, the edge units crack first.
- Weeds pushing through the field. Occasional weeds happen, but a full breakout means the geotextile fabric was skipped or the base was too thin. Weeds don’t grow through six inches of properly compacted base and a fabric barrier.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

Paver driveway installation in Los Angeles runs $8,260 to $21,240 installed for a typical two-car driveway. Paver patio installation runs $4,130 to $12,980. The spread comes down to three things: square footage, what we find when we pull the old field, and whether we’re doing the job as a remove-and-replace or a full re-base. A straight swap over an existing base that’s still sound lands at the lower end. A full tear-out with new geotextile, compacted aggregate base, and re-screed setting bed lands at the upper end.
Every quote is a written line-item price before any work starts. That’s The Garrison Standard, and it’s not negotiable on our side. You’ll see the paver cost, the base material cost, the labor, and the haul-off as separate lines. If the tear-out reveals deeper damage, we stop, show you what we found, and put the new number in writing before we proceed. No numbers that move at the door. The work is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the pavers shift, crack, or settle inside the first year, we come back and correct it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things yourself. Pull a paver from the failing area and look at the base beneath it. If you see sand where there should be compacted aggregate, that’s your failure. You can also check the edge restraint: walk the perimeter and look for plastic edging that’s pulled away from the field. Those are diagnostic steps, and they’ll help you understand the scope when you talk to any contractor.
What you shouldn’t do is start pulling pavers and re-setting them yourself on a driveway that carries vehicle load. A paver that’s not seated on a compacted base will crack under the first car that rolls over it, and you’ll have thrown good time at a problem that needed a re-base anyway. The dangerous part of this work isn’t the paver itself, it’s the temptation to patch a failed base from the top. That never holds in Los Angeles soil. If you’ve got movement in the field, call us at (903) 568-7222 and we’ll tell you over the phone whether it sounds like a base issue or a surface issue. Straight number, real scope, no surprises at the punch list.
FAQs

A correctly installed ECO paver driveway in Los Angeles should give you 25 to 35 years on the paver unit itself, with a re-sand of the joints every 3 to 5 years and a base that holds for the life of the field. Most failures we see in Los Angeles are base failures showing up in year 3 to 7, which is a compaction or material problem, not a paver problem. Call (903) 568-7222 if your field is drifting early; we’ll tell you what we’re likely to find.
Pavers can be repaired in sections if the failure is isolated and the base under the surrounding field is still sound. We pull the affected area, re-compact the base, and re-set the units. If the movement has spread across the whole field, a patch job just moves the problem around. The honest answer comes from a tear-out inspection, and that’s included when we quote the job. Estimates are free.
A typical two-car paver driveway replacement in Los Angeles takes 3 to 5 working days from tear-out to finished field, depending on access and what we find underneath. If we’re replacing the whole base, add a day for compaction testing before we re-set a single paver. You’ll have a written schedule in the quote, and we hit it.
We stock common ECO paver profiles and edge restraints in our Los Angeles yard, along with Belgard and Unilock equivalents for non-blended work. If your paver is a less common ECO series or an older mold code, we order direct from the manufacturer and the lead time is usually under a week. We’ll confirm what’s on hand before you book.
The 365-Day Done Right Promise covers the workmanship and installation for a full year after we finish: if the pavers shift, crack, or settle due to our installation, we return and correct the work at no charge. The paver manufacturer’s warranty covers the materials themselves, and we document everything at close. You’ll have a signed written guarantee in hand before we leave the site.
Most paver driveway replacements in Los Angeles don’t require a permit unless you’re changing the driveway approach, altering drainage, or working within the public right-of-way. If your job does require a permit, we pull it, schedule inspections, and don’t ask you to handle it. You’ll know at the quote stage, in writing.
If you’ve got a failing ECO Window Systems paver field anywhere in Los Angeles, call (903) 568-7222 for a free estimate. A real person answers, we’ll talk through what you’re seeing, and we’ll put a written price in your hand before any work starts.
