IKO Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
Bradford Remodeling stocks and installs IKO-compatible driveway and paver products across Los Angeles, with most paver driveway installations running $8,260 to $21,240 depending on square footage, substrate condition, and paver grade. When a Los Angeles homeowner calls us about IKO pavers, it’s almost never a full driveway failure. It’s a single cracked paver, a settled section near the curb, or shifting at the joints where water has been doing its work for a decade. We send a crew out, match the paver profile, pull the damaged section, and get the base right before anything goes back in. Same-week scheduling is typical, and we carry the common IKO paver profiles on our trucks so the first visit is usually the only visit.
We’re an independent Los Angeles contractor, not an IKO dealer or affiliate. That means we can be straight with you about when an IKO replacement part is the right call, and when a comparable paver from Belgard or Unilock will do the same job for less money. Curtis Lane runs Bradford Remodeling, and his rule on paver matching is simple: if the profile and color family don’t line up, nobody installs it. A mismatched paver repair looks worse than the crack it was fixing.
Which IKO Models This Applies To

IKO’s hardscape line in the Los Angeles market covers a few distinct paver families, and the compatibility questions come down to profile, thickness, and the age of the original install. The three we see most on residential driveways in Los Angeles are the IKO Cambridge series (a tumbled, cobble-style paver, typically 60mm for driveways), the IKO Travertina series (a larger-format paver with a flatter face, often 60mm to 80mm), and the older IKO Milano line, which was popular in Los Angeles subdivisions built in the late 1990s and early 2000s. If you don’t know which series you have, measure the paver. Cambridge pavers run about 4 inches by 8 inches. Travertina runs closer to 8 inches by 12 inches. Milano was the homeowner-grade paver sold through big-box stores, and it’s the one that gives us the most trouble with matching because it was discontinued in this market years ago.
The real compatibility gotcha with IKO pavers in Los Angeles is thickness. Driveway pavers need to be 60mm or thicker to hold up under vehicle weight in our soil. Some older IKO installs used 45mm pavers suited for patios, not driveways, and those fail early because the installer cut a corner on the original job. When we see that, we don’t patch. We pull the section, correct the base, and put the right thickness back. On matching, an OEM IKO paver is always the cleanest match for color and profile, but on discontinued lines we work with quality aftermarket equivalents from Belgard and Unilock. Curtis won’t sign off on a repair unless the replacement paver sits flush and the color matches within a shade, because anything else ages into an eyesore.

Signs Your IKO Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- A single cracked paver in the wheel path. This is the most common call we get in Los Angeles. One paver takes the repeated load of the same tire line every day, and when the bedding sand underneath has thinned out, that paver flexes and fractures. A crack in the wheel path is almost never a bad paver. It’s a base issue under that paver.
- Settling or sinking near the curb or the garage apron. Los Angeles soil moves with moisture, especially in areas with expansive clay. When the sub-base wasn’t compacted right on the original install, the pavers settle unevenly and you’ll see a dip. That dip collects water, and the problem accelerates from there.
- Joint sand washing out after rain. Walk the driveway after a good Los Angeles downpour. If you see sand trails running off the surface or pooling in the low spots, the joints are losing their fill. Left alone, the pavers start shifting laterally and the pattern opens up.
- Edge pavers pulling away from the border or curb. The edge restraint is what holds the whole field together. When it fails, the outer pavers spread and the pattern distorts. This is a repair we do often, and it usually means pulling the edge course, resetting the restraint, and reinstalling the border pavers.
- A paver that rocks under your foot or wobbles when you step on it. A rocking paver means the bedding layer has eroded under one corner. It seems minor, but every car tire over that paver adds leverage, and the rocking gets worse until the paver breaks. This is a five-minute check any homeowner can do walking the driveway.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, IKO driveway paver repair pricing breaks down like this. A single-paver replacement with base correction under that section runs about $350 to $650. A section repair covering a settled or cracked area up to 100 square feet runs $2,500 to $5,500, depending on how much base work is required. A full IKO paver driveway installation runs $8,260 to $21,240, which includes demolition of the existing surface, sub-base prep, paver installation, joint sand, and edge restraints. The wide range comes down to paver grade, square footage, and what’s hiding under the old driveway. In Los Angeles, we often find old concrete or buried debris that wasn’t removed on the original install, and that has to come out before anything new goes down.
Every Bradford Remodeling paver job in Los Angeles comes with a written price before any work starts. That’s The Garrison Standard, and it means the number you see on the quote is the number you pay. No door-price adjustments. The quote splits parts and labor so you can see exactly what the pavers cost and what the installation costs. All completed paver work is covered by the 365-Day Done Right Promise. If a paver settles, cracks, or shifts inside that year due to our workmanship, we return and correct it at no charge. That’s in writing, signed, before the crew leaves.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check a few things on your own. Walk the driveway and mark every paver that rocks or has a crack. Look at the joints after rain and note where sand has washed out. Check the edges where the driveway meets the lawn or the curb for spreading. Those observations help us give you a faster, more accurate quote when you call. What you shouldn’t do is start pulling pavers yourself. Once that paver comes out, the surrounding field loses support and the damage spreads fast. IKO pavers are interlocking by design, and when you break that interlock without resetting the edge restraint and re-compacting the base, you create the exact conditions that caused the original failure. This isn’t dangerous work like garage door springs or electrical panels, but it is work that goes wrong quickly when the base isn’t right. Straight number, real scope, no surprises at the punch list. Call (903) 568-7222 and we’ll send a crew out to assess your driveway and give you a written repair price. The estimate is free.
FAQs

A properly installed IKO paver driveway in Los Angeles lasts 25 to 40 years, with the surface itself holding up longer than the base underneath it. The pavers are rated to handle our UV exposure and heat without fading badly, but the base and sub-base are what determine lifespan. In Los Angeles neighborhoods with expansive clay soil, base failure happens faster, and that’s what shortens the life of the driveway, not the pavers themselves. Call (903) 568-7222 if you’re seeing settling or cracking, and we’ll tell you whether your base is still doing its job.
Yes, and that’s the repair we do most often. We pull the damaged pavers, correct the base and bedding sand under that section, and reinstall with matching pavers. The catch is color matching. Pavers that have been in the Los Angeles sun for ten years have faded, and new pavers from the same IKO series won’t match them exactly. We handle this by pulling pavers from a less visible area, like along the side yard, and installing the new pavers there so the visible field stays consistent. Call (903) 568-7222 for a quote on the section repair.
A single-paver replacement with base correction is done in one visit, typically four to six hours including cleanup. A section repair up to 100 square feet takes one to two days depending on how much base work is needed. A full paver driveway installation in Los Angeles runs five to ten working days from demolition through final joint sand and compaction. We give you the schedule in the written quote, and we hold to it. Call (903) 568-7222 and we’ll walk you through a realistic timeline for your specific job.
We carry the common IKO Cambridge and Travertina profiles in 60mm driveway thickness on our trucks, so most single-paver and small-section repairs in Los Angeles are handled same-visit. For the discontinued Milano line or larger projects, we source OEM pavers through our supplier network or match with a Belgard or Unilock equivalent. We’ll tell you in the quote whether the part is on the truck or on order, and the lead time if it’s the latter. Call (903) 568-7222 with your paver measurements and we’ll check stock before the first visit.
