Jerith Windows & Doors: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
If you own a Jerith window or door and a part has failed, we can match it, price it, and install it. Typical installed replacement cost for Jerith-compatible parts in Los Angeles runs $210 to $1,450 depending on what failed, and we carry common hardware, rollers, balances, and weather seals on the truck for most Jerith series. Most owners discover a part has failed when the sash starts dragging, a lock won’t engage, or the door binds against the jamb. Sometimes it’s a slow decline over a season, other times a hinge pops or a balance cable snaps and you know immediately.
We’re an independent service provider, not a Jerith factory outlet or authorized dealer. That matters because it means we give you a straight answer on whether the OEM part is worth the money or a quality aftermarket equivalent will outlast it in Los Angeles conditions. Curtis Lane has been matching window and door hardware across the Basin for two decades, and the way he puts it: “Straight number, real scope, no surprises at the punch list.”
Which Jerith Models This Applies To

Jerith Manufacturing has produced aluminum and vinyl window and door lines for residential and light commercial use since the 1940s. In Los Angeles, the Jerith units we see most often are aluminum sliders from the Series 800 and Series 900 lines, along with insulated vinyl double-hungs and casements from their later residential lines. The gotcha with Jerith is this: they changed their balance system channel width between older and newer double-hung series, so a balance from a 2000-era Series 700 window will not seat into a mid-1990s unit without a retrofit clip. We measure the channel pocket, not the sticker.
How to identify your Jerith part: check the lower corner of the sash or the inside of the frame for an etched or printed series code, usually two or three digits followed by a letter. If the label is gone, measure the visible glass and the frame-to-frame width, then measure the channel width where the balance or roller sits. For sliders, measure the roller housing seat. We’ll ask for those numbers when you call, but don’t stress if you can’t get them all. Our techs carry a caliper and a reference chart with Jerith series specs going back to the 1980s.
OEM Jerith parts are still available for most series through supply houses, but lead time in Los Angeles can run 7 to 14 days for less common hardware. For high-wear items like slider rollers and pivot shoes, a properly spec’d aftermarket part from a manufacturer like Truth Hardware or Caldwell often matches or exceeds the original at 40 to 60 percent of the OEM price. We’ll tell you plainly which is which before you spend a dollar.

Signs Your Jerith Windows & Doors Is Failing
- The sash drags or won’t stay open. On older Jerith double-hungs, this is almost always a sprung balance cable or a worn pivot shoe. In Los Angeles, sustained heat and dry air degrade the nylon shoe faster than coastal humidity would. On sliders, the rollers flatten over time and the sash rides the track on its frame edge.
- The lock won’t engage or the keeper plate is loose. Jerith locks on aluminum sliders are simple cam-and-keeper mechanisms. Years of slamming plus thermal cycling in LA’s hot-dry summers will round the cam or wallow out the keeper screw hole. The fix is usually a new lock assembly or a re-threaded keeper seat, not a new door.
- Air leaks around the sash or panel edge. Compression weather seal on Jerith units dries out and takes a set after 8 to 12 years in Los Angeles sun. Once the seal has hardened and shrunk at the corners, tightening the adjusters won’t close the gap. It needs new weather stripping, which we stock in a few profiles.
- Condensation or haze between the panes. That’s a failed insulating glass unit, so it’s a sash replacement or a reglaze, not a repairable part per se. The reality in Los Angeles is that low-e failures on older Jerith units are usually the edge seal letting go after years of direct sun on the west or south elevation.
- The door binds at the top corner or won’t latch. With aluminum Jerith patio doors, what owners call a hinge problem is often a sag from a worn top roller assembly or a wallowed bottom pivot bushing. The panel drops just enough that the latch claw misses the keep. We adjust or replace the roller, realign the panel, and the door operates clean.

That’s The Garrison Standard, and we put it in your hand at the end of every job.
DIY or Call Us?
There are two things a Los Angeles Jerith owner can safely check without us. First, clean the track and the sill and see if the operation improves. Second, check the screws on the keeper plate and the hinge leafs. Sometimes a driver is all a loose latch needs. Beyond that, double-hung balances are under real spring tension, so a slip can snap a hand or send a metal shoe through glass. We don’t say that to scare you. We say it because Curtis has pulled enough broken balance cables out of window pockets to respect what they’ll do to a thumb if the tool slips.

FAQs

A Jerith aluminum slider or double-hung properly maintained will serve 20 to 30 years in Los Angeles, with weather seals typically needing replacement every 8 to 12 years and balances or rollers at 15 to 20. The frame will usually outlast the hardware. Call (903) 568-7222 and we’ll tell you whether your unit is worth rebuilding or if replacement makes more sense.
Some Jerith parts can be serviced, such as a keeper plate that needs a new screw seat or a roller assembly that just needs a housing clean and re-lube, but most failed hardware is replaced rather than repaired. The old part is already worn or broken, so patching it buys months, not years. We’ll tell you which situation you’re in before any work is approved.
Most single-part Jerith repairs, like a lock, weather seal, or slider roller set, are finished in 60 to 90 minutes from arrival to cleanup. A double-hung balance replacement on multiple sashes or an insulated glass sash order takes longer, often because the glass has to be fabricated to size first. You’ll get a clear timeline when we quote the job.
We carry common Jerith-compatible rollers, pivot shoes, balance components, locks, keepers, and weather seal profiles on the truck, along with hardware for other brands we service like KraftMaid cabinetry and Cambria or Silestone surface work. Uncommon Jerith series parts are special-ordered with a clear lead time given up front. Either way, you’ll know the part and the price in writing before we start.
If your Jerith window or door has a part that failed, don’t live with the draft or the stuck sash. Call (903) 568-7222 for a free estimate. We’ll give you a straight number and a real scope, and you’ll have a written price in your hand before the first tool comes out.
