Mighty Buildings Windows & Doors: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
An installed replacement window or door for a Mighty Buildings home in Los Angeles runs roughly $5,310 to $29,500, depending on size, glazing, and whether the rough opening needs re-flashing. We stock common Mighty Buildings-compatible fenestration parts locally and can typically schedule the swap within a few days of your first call. Most owners discover the failure the hard way: a latch that no longer seats, glass that fogs between panes, or a frame that’s quietly pulling away from the panel joint where the wall meets the opening.
Mighty Buildings uses factory-assembled composite wall panels with integrated window and door openings cut to specification before the module ever leaves the plant. When one of those openings fails, it’s usually not the window itself. It’s the interface: the sealant joint, the flashing detail, or the thermal break around a rough opening that was never meant to be field-modified. Curtis Lane has seen enough of these in LA to know the difference between a bad part and a bad installation, and that distinction drives everything we quote.
Which Mighty Buildings Models This Applies To

Mighty Buildings builds its single-family and ADU product lines on a modular chassis: the Mighty House, the ADU series, and the newer backyard studio models all share a common approach to openings. Windows are typically standard North American rough-opening sizes (36×48, 48×48, 60×48, and so on), but the wall panel’s composite construction means the rough opening tolerance is tighter than a stick-framed wall. You can’t shim a quarter-inch gap the way you might on a 1970s ranch house without risking the weather barrier behind the panel.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha: Mighty Buildings panels are engineered with a specific interior reveal depth. Off-the-shelf windows from a big-box store often sit too deep or too shallow in the opening, which cocks the sash and kills the seal within two or three years. We match the window’s jamb depth to the panel thickness first, then worry about glass package. Aftermarket units from brands we stock, like Therma-Tru for doors and name-brand vinyl and composite windows, usually work fine as long as the jamb depth matches. For most Mighty Buildings openings, that means a custom-ordered jamb extension or a factory-corrected frame depth. If you still have the original spec sheet or a serial label on the existing unit, bring it to the first call. It saves a full measurement cycle.

Signs Your Mighty Buildings Windows & Doors Is Failing
- Condensation between the panes. The insulating glass unit (IGU) has lost its seal. In Los Angeles, this shows up first on west-facing windows, where the afternoon sun drives the thermal cycle hard. Once the desiccant inside the spacer is saturated, the fog never clears.
- The sash drags or won’t close square. The wall panel has shifted, or the rough opening was off-plane from day one. Either way, the frame is torqued. Forcing the sash closed just cracks the corner welds.
- Water staining below the window or at the door threshold. The flashing joint between the panel and the fenestration frame has failed. This is the most common Mighty Buildings opening issue we see in Los Angeles, and it’s almost never the window’s fault.
- You can feel air moving around a closed door or window on a windy day. The weatherstripping is done, or the frame has pulled away from the sealing surface. Energy loss out here matters less for heating than it does for dust and Santa Ana grit.
- The lock or multi-point latch won’t engage. A dropped sash or a warped door leaf means the strike plates no longer align. This is a security issue before it’s a comfort issue, and it’s worth calling before a break-in forces the question.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For Los Angeles Mighty Buildings projects, a single window replacement runs $5,310 to $17,700 installed, and a full door replacement runs $944 to $29,500 depending on whether it’s an interior passage door or a high-performance exterior unit with sidelites. The range is driven by three things: glass package (single, double, or low-e with argon), frame material, and whether the surrounding panel flashing needs to be cut back and re-done. High-efficiency low-e glass with a composite or fiberglass frame sits at the top of that range. A basic dual-glazed vinyl slider sits at the bottom.
Every quote is a written number before work starts. You’ll see the part cost, the labor, the flashing and sealant materials, and the haul-away line item. No number moves at the door. All installed windows and doors carry the 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the unit or the installation fails within a full year, we return and correct it at no charge. That’s in writing, signed, in your hand at close-out.
DIY or Call Us?
There’s a narrow band of safe owner work here: clearing weep holes, re-seating weatherstripping, and checking hinge screws for tightness. If the drainage path is clogged with LA dust and debris, clear it with a stiff brush and a vacuum. That fixes more minor leaks than any other single thing.
Beyond that, call us. Removing a window or door from a Mighty Buildings panel means breaking the weather seal on a composite wall system, and the flashing detail isn’t something you re-invent on a Saturday with a caulk tube. A botched seal job rots the panel edge, and panel repair costs far more than a correct install would have. If the door is dragging and the frame has moved, the panel may need re-shimming at the anchor points, which is not a one-person job. Our technicians are background-checked and uniformed, and they’ll show up with a written scope in hand. Straight number, real scope, no surprises at the punch list.

FAQs

Expect 15 to 25 years from a quality IGU and frame in LA’s climate, with south- and west-facing units wearing out roughly 5 years sooner due to UV and afternoon heat cycling. A failed seal or sagging sash at year 12 isn’t unusual.
Sometimes. If only the IGU is fogged, we can often replace the sealed glass unit without touching the frame, which runs about 40% to 60% of a full replacement. If the frame itself is warped or the flashing has failed, replacement is cheaper than a panel repair. Call (903) 568-7222 and we’ll tell you which one you’re looking at.
Plan on 4 to 8 hours for a single window or door, including old-unit removal, flashing inspection, new install, and interior trim. If we have to cut back and re-do the panel flashing, add half a day. No padding, just what the opening needs.
We keep common sizes and jamb depths in local stock, along with aftermarket equivalents that match Mighty Buildings panel reveals. Rare sizes or custom glass packages run 2 to 4 weeks from order. We’ll tell you which is which before you sign anything.
We also stock parts for KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone projects, so if your Mighty Buildings home has other failing components, we can spec those too.
