Mr-Glass Construction in San Diego, CA | Bradford Remodeling
If you own a Mr-Glass shower enclosure in San Diego and the hardware is failing, here’s the short version: we’re an independent San Diego contractor that repairs and replaces Mr-Glass enclosures, and the biggest factor in whether we fix or replace your enclosure is usually salt air, not age. Frameless and semi-frameless Mr-Glass units within a few miles of the coast corrode on a different schedule than the same enclosure in El Cajon or Rancho Bernardo. That’s the reality we build our service around.
We work on Mr-Glass sales & service enclosures every week here, and we know exactly what the marine layer does to powder-coated aluminum and tempered glass. Call (903) 568-7222 with your model number or just a photo of the problem, and we’ll tell you whether it’s worth repairing or the honest call is replacement.
Why San Diego Residents Choose Us for Mr-Glass Service

We don’t farm out Mr-Glass enclosure work to a glass sub. Our techs fabricate to the same heavy-glass and hardware standards Mr-Glass specifies, cutting and polishing 3/8″ and 1/2″ tempered panels to the original dimensions and sourcing hinges, pivots, sweeps, and seals from the same suppliers that made the OEM parts. That’s rare in San Diego, where most general contractors will hand a shower enclosure job to whoever’s cheapest that week.
Bradford Remodeling sits inside the Garrison Partners family, established in 2004, and every location operates under The Garrison Standard. What that means for your Mr-Glass enclosure is a written price before any work starts, background-checked techs in uniform at your door, and a 365-Day Done Right Promise on the completed job. Curtis Lane runs this operation. He trained in construction technology at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College and spent years doing finish carpentry before taking over Bradford Remodeling, which is why our enclosures get installed plumb, level, and sealed right the first time.

Common Mr-Glass Construction Problems We Solve in San Diego
These are the five we see most often across San Diego, and each one’s tied to something specific about where you live.
- Pitted or chalked aluminum headers and wall channels. The powder-coat finish on Mr-Glass Euro Frameless and Semi-Frameless frames takes a beating from marine salt fog. Within about five miles of the coast, we regularly pull headers that look fine from the front and are pitted through the finish against the wall. Repair is possible if the pitting is shallow; once it’s through the coating, the frame needs replacing.
- Dry-cracked or missing vinyl sweeps. San Diego sun is hard on bottom-rail sweeps. They dry out, crack, discolor, and then the enclosure leaks at the floor line. The bigger problem: Mr-Glass has discontinued many OEM sweeps, so we match the profile with aftermarket stock from the same suppliers that produced the originals.
- Hard-water mineral etching on glass. San Diego’s water runs moderately hard. Untreated tempered glass without a protective coating develops etching that cannot be cleaned off. It’s permanent. We’ll tell you straight: if the glass is etched, replacement is the answer, not another bottle of descaler.
- Corroded patch-fitting hinges and pivot blocks. Coastal homes in Point Loma, Ocean Beach, and La Jolla see hinge corrosion that causes door sag. A sagging Mr-Glass door eventually makes glass-to-wall contact, and that’s how panels chip or crack. Inland, this same corrosion takes three times as long to show up.
- Door drift from humidity swings. San Diego’s morning humidity runs 60-70% in the coastal zone, then drops during the day. That daily expansion and contraction works Mr-Glass hinges loose over time. We re-set, re-shim, and torque doors so they swing true and seal tight.
Mr-Glass Service in San Diego: What Local Conditions Mean for Your Equipment
San Diego’s coastal zone has a documented marine-layer humidity pattern: mornings sit at roughly 60% to 70% humidity even in July, and that wet air pushes inland to about I-15 before it burns off. Aluminum-framed Mr-Glass enclosures near the coast live in that moisture every single morning. Fastener holes in the header, the joint between wall channel and glass, the pivot block threads, all of it gets damp air, then dry afternoon heat, every day of the year. The result is corrosion that inland San Diego homes, east of I-15 through Scripps Ranch or Poway, simply don’t see at the same rate. That’s why we spec 316 stainless hardware for Mr-Glass enclosures within about five miles of the ocean, and 304 stainless for everything inland. It’s a material call that extends the life of the enclosure by years, and it costs maybe $40 more in parts. Most San Diego shower companies don’t make that distinction at all.
Mr-Glass Models & Products We Service in San Diego
We work on the full Mr-Glass service in San Jose lineup as it’s sold in the Southern California market: the Euro Frameless Series, Semi-Frameless Series, Vista Frameless Sliding Series, and Header-Mount Frameless Series. For parts, we stock common hinge sets, pivot blocks, wall channels, and sweep profiles in our San Diego shop so we’re not waiting on freight for standard repairs. When OEM parts are discontinued, which happens more often than you’d expect, we match with equivalent components from the same manufacturers that built the originals. If the glass is sound, we repair. If the glass is etched or a channel is pitted through the coating, we say replace, and we’ll show you why, in writing, before you spend a dollar.

FAQs – Mr-Glass Construction in San Diego
My Mr-Glass enclosure has a sagging frameless door and a pitted header – can you fix that or do I need a whole new shower?
You need a new header and hardware, but not necessarily a whole new shower. If the glass panels are intact and the wall channels are structurally sound, we replace the header, hinges, and pivot blocks with new components, re-hang the door, and torque everything square. If the pitting has gone through the powder coat into the aluminum itself, then the header is a replacement item. Call (903) 568-7222 and send us a photo, and we’ll give you a straight repair-versus-replace answer.
I’m near the coast in Ocean Beach – will a Mr-Glass shower enclosure corrode?
Yes, eventually. Any aluminum-framed enclosure within five miles of the San Diego coast will corrode faster than the same unit inland. We spec 316 stainless hardware for coastal installations, which resists marine corrosion far better than the 304 stainless most enclosure companies use everywhere. You’ll still need to squeegee the glass and wipe down the hardware, but 316 stainless buys you years.
Can you convert my tub to a walk-in shower with a Mr-Glass enclosure instead of a prefab pan?
Yes. We do tub-to-shower conversions with a tiled shower pan and a Mr-Glass enclosure built to the new opening, rather than a prefab fiberglass pan. You get the curbless or low-curb entry you want, a properly sloped mortar bed, and a frameless Mr-Glass door and panel that fits the new dimensions exactly. It’s more work than dropping in an acrylic unit, and it’s a better shower.
The water in my San Diego home is spotting the Mr-Glass glass – is that damage or just hard water?
It depends on how long the spots have been there. Fresh mineral deposits clean off with a good acidic glass cleaner. But over years, San Diego’s mineral content etches the glass surface itself, and that does not clean off. Etching looks like permanent cloudiness or rainbow staining. If a razor blade won’t lift it, the glass is etched and replacement is the fix. We can tell you which one you’re dealing with in about ten seconds.
Do you stock Mr-Glass replacement sweeps and seals for older enclosures?
We stock common Mr-Glass sweep profiles and seal shapes in our San Diego shop, and for the discontinued profiles we match with aftermarket equivalents from the same suppliers that made Mr-Glass originals. If your bottom rail sweeps are cracked and leaking, call (903) 568-7222 and we’ll confirm whether yours is a profile we keep on the shelf.
