Tamko Kitchen Remodeling: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
We install and replace Tamko-compatible kitchen remodeling components across Los Angeles, with most full kitchen remodels running between $16,520 and $53,100 depending on cabinet layout, countertop square footage, and how much of the existing framing gets reworked. If you’re holding a warped cabinet door, a separating countertop seam, or a backsplash that’s pulling away from the wall, you’ve got a Tamko-spec component that needs replacement, not another patch job. Most Los Angeles homeowners discover the failure at the sink base or the upper cabinet line, where daily use and our dry-summer, damp-winter cycles put real stress on seams and fasteners.
Bradford Remodeling is an independent contractor. We’re not a Tamko dealer and we don’t sell Tamko-branded cabinetry. What we do is work with Tamko-compatible kitchen components, match them to the right replacement, and install them so the next decade doesn’t look like the last one.

Which Tamko Models This Applies To

Tamko’s kitchen line shows up in Los Angeles under two main series: the builder-grade Tamko Classic and the mid-range Tamko Estate. The Classic series uses 1/2″ thermofoil doors with metal clip hinges and standard 35mm cup spacing. The Estate line steps up to 3/4″ painted MDF with soft-close hardware and deeper upper cabinets that sit at 15″ instead of the Classic’s 12″. The getcha: the two series don’t swap hinges. A Classic hinge won’t seat in an Estate door, and an Estate soft-close slide needs 3/4″ clearance the Classic boxes weren’t framed for.
So when you call us about a Tamko kitchen part in the San Fernando Valley, West Adams, or out toward Glendale, the first question is which series you’re in. If you still have the original invoice, it’s printed there. If not, measure the door thickness. Half-inch is Classic. Three-quarter is Estate. That single measurement tells us which replacement hinges, which drawer slides, and which seam-fill material to load on the truck before we head to your house.
We default to OEM-spec Tamko hardware where it’s still available, because the cup depths and mounting hole spacing are exact. Where the OEM part has been discontinued, we carry a quality aftermarket equivalent from Hafele or Blum that matches the spec sheet. We won’t hand you a generic hinge and tell you it’s “just as good” if it’s not on the Tamko tolerance sheet. Bradford Remodeling also installs KraftMaid, Cambria, and Silestone components, which gives us a broader hardware reference when we’re cross-checking what fits.
Styles & brands we work with

Signs Your Tamko Kitchen Remodeling Is Failing
- Upper cabinet doors drifting out of alignment. The Classic series clip hinges have a nylon bushing that wears flat in Los Angeles heat. Once the bushing compresses, the door sags 1/8″ at the corner and never quite returns to square after you push it closed. The fix is a hinge swap, not a door adjustment.
- Drawers that bind halfway out. Tamko Estate slides handle 75 pounds, but only when the ball bearing cage is intact. Once one bearing pops out of the race, the drawer sticks at the midpoint. Forcing it past the bind is how homeowners bend the rail and trash the whole slide.
- Countertop seam separating at the sink run. Los Angeles swings from 15% indoor humidity in October to 70% in June. That cycle works on any rigid seam filler. Tamko’s factory seams often open at the sink cutout first, because that’s the thinnest stone and the most-frequently-wet joint. We re-cut and re-fill the seam with a color-matched epoxy, then condition the substrate so it doesn’t telegraph through the surface again.
- Thermofoil peeling at the lower door edges. The Classic series thermofoil is heat-applied. Over a decade of dishwasher vent cycles and west-facing afternoon sun, the laminate lifts at the bottom rail. You can’t glue it back flat once the substrate has swollen. It’s a door replacement.
- Water staining or swelling at the toe kick. The Classic series toe kick is particleboard with a vinyl skin. A slow sink leak or a refrigerator line drip wicks up and swells it inside a month. By the time you see the stain on the outside, the carcass behind it has already degraded.
Replacement Cost & What’s Included

In Los Angeles, a Tamko-compatible kitchen remodel runs $16,520 to $53,100. The low end gets you a Classic-series cabinet replacement with laminate counters and a standard backsplash in a small-to-medium kitchen. The high end covers an Estate-series upgrade with Cambria or Silestone slab counters, soft-close hardware throughout, and a full cabinet re-frame if the existing boxes are out of square. Cabinet installation alone runs $4,720 to $15,340. Countertops add $2,360 to $7,670 depending on material and slab count. Backsplash runs $945 to $2,950.
Every price is a written, line-item quote before we order a single part. You’ll see the cabinet cost, the hardware cost, the labor, and the disposal fees broken out separately. The price on that sheet is the price you pay. Under The Garrison Standard, if the scope changes, the change goes on paper and you sign it before we continue. At close, you get a signed 365-Day Done Right Promise: if any part of that remodel fails inside a year, we come back and correct it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
You can safely check your own hinge alignment with a screwdriver, and you can identify whether you’re dealing with a Classic or Estate line by measuring door thickness as described above. What you shouldn’t do yourself is pull a countertop seam apart, re-level a cabinet run that’s pulling off the wall, or re-frame a water-damaged sink base. Countertops and cabinet boxes carry real weight, and a dropped stone slab or a collapsing upper cabinet is how people get hurt. Cabinet carcasses that have separated from the studs need to be re-shimmed and re-fastened, not caulked back together.
If the part is a hinge, a slide, or a door panel, and you’re comfortable with a drill and a level, we’ll sell you the right replacement and tell you how to put it in. If it’s structural, it’s a Bradford Remodeling job. One call to (903) 568-7222 and we’ll tell you which bucket you’re in.

AfterCan you repair a Tamko cabinet door or does it need replacing?
Doors with sagging hinges, worn-out slide hardware, or failed soft-close mechanisms can be repaired with OEM-spec or aftermarket-equivalent parts. A door with peeling thermofoil, a swollen particleboard core, or a cracked frame needs full replacement. We’ll give you the honest answer on the phone, not after we’ve taken the door off and driven away.
How long does the swap take?
A hinge or slide replacement is a half-day job. A full Tamko-compatible kitchen remodel in Los Angeles takes two to four weeks, including demolition, re-framing if necessary, cabinet installation, countertop fabrication and set, backsplash, and final punch-out. We’ll give you a written timeline with the written price.
Do you stock Tamko parts on the truck?
Yes. Every Bradford Remodeling truck carries common Tamko Classic and Estate hinge sets, soft-close slides, cabinet door bumpers, and seam-fill material. If we don’t have the exact part on the first stop, we order it and it’s usually in hand within three business days. Call (903) 568-7222 to check availability before we head out.
How long do Tamko kitchen cabinets actually last in California?

Tamko Classic cabinets last 10 to 15 years in Los Angeles before the thermofoil doors, particleboard boxes, and hinge bushings start showing real wear. Estate-series cabinets with soft-close hardware and painted MDF doors last 15 to 25 years, provided the exterior walls don’t see unchecked moisture. Our job is to extend that lifespan by fixing what’s failing before the carcass is compromised and the only answer is a full rip-out.
Straight number, real scope, no surprises at the punch list. That’s how Curtis Lane runs every Bradford Remodeling job in Los Angeles, from a hinge swap in Atwater Village to a full Tamko-compatible kitchen remodel in Sherman Oaks. Call (903) 568-7222 for your free estimate and written scope, and we’ll show you what a disciplined remodel actually looks like.
