Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide
Bradford Remodeling installs and repairs Techo-Bloc driveway systems and paver surfaces across Los Angeles, with typical driveway work running $8,260 to $21,240 depending on square footage, substrate condition, and the specific Techo-Bloc product line. Most paver repairs we handle are discovered the same way: a low spot forms after rain, a few pavers start rocking underfoot, or the edge row pulls away from the curb. We stock common Techo-Bloc replacement pavers and can source any series within a few days.
We’re an independent Los Angeles contractor. We are not a Techo-Bloc dealer or factory affiliate. What we are is a crew that has pulled up enough failed paver driveways to know exactly what’s underneath them, and we’ll be straight with you about whether your pavers themselves failed or the base under them did.
Which Techo-Bloc Models This Applies To

Techo-Bloc runs several distinct paver lines, and they do not interchange. The most common in Los Angeles driveways are the Blu 60 and Blu 80 slabs (60mm and 80mm thickness, respectively), the Victorien and Industria lines for a tumbled or smooth finish, and Blu Grande for larger-format projects. If you don’t know which one you have, flip a loose paver. Techo-Bloc stamps the product code on the underside of nearly every unit it makes.
Here’s the compatibility gotcha that trips up homeowners: a Blu 60 and a Blu 80 are dimensionally identical on the face but built for different loads. The 60mm paver is a pedestrian and light-vehicle product. The 80mm version is what you want under a driveway that sees trucks, RVs, or delivery vans. Swapping between them won’t fix a failing driveway if the wrong thickness was installed originally. Aftermarket equivalents exist, but Techo-Bloc’s color blends (Shale Grey, Sandalwood, Chestnut Brown) are proprietary. If color match matters, OEM is the safer route. If you’re doing small spot repairs where the pavers sit in a less-visible area, a well-matched aftermarket unit can work, and we’ll tell you when it won’t before you spend the money. Curtis Lane has been through enough of these teardowns to know when a repair is cosmetic and when it’s structural.

Signs Your Techo-Bloc Driveway & Pavers Is Failing
- Pavers rocking or shifting near the edges. This is almost always an edge restraint problem. The plastic or concrete border has cracked or pulled away, and the paver field starts migrating. It’s a repair issue, not a replacement issue, if caught early.
- Low spots that pond water after rain. Water pooling in the middle of a paver driveway means the base settlement happened unevenly. Los Angeles clay soil expands and contracts more than people expect, and a base that wasn’t compacted in proper lifts will show it within two rainy seasons.
- Fading or whitening across large sections. Techo-Bloc pavers use integral color, but UV exposure and hard water in Los Angeles can etch the surface sheen on some finishes. This is a maintenance and sealing concern, not usually structural.
- Cracks appearing in individual pavers. A cracked paver here and there is normal wear. A run of cracked pavers in a line points to a subgrade void underneath. Replacing the pavers without fixing the void means you’ll replace them again in a year.
- Sand washing out between joints after every rain. Joint sand is supposed to stay put once it’s swept in and compacted. If it’s washing out, the paver field may not have proper interlock, or the pitch isn’t moving water where it should.

AfterReplacement Cost & What’s Included

For a full paver driveway installation in Los Angeles, expect $8,260 to $21,240. A paver patio runs $4,130 to $12,980. Spot repairs fall lower, but it depends on what’s actually wrong: swapping out a dozen cracked pavers might be a few hundred dollars, while re-compacting a failing base under a 400-square-foot driveway is a different job entirely.
What drives the price: square footage, access (a tight Los Angeles hillside driveway costs more to work than a flat Mid-City slab), the current condition of your base, and whether you’re matching an existing Techo-Bloc color or starting fresh. Every project gets a written price before work starts. No numbers move at the door. That’s The Garrison Standard, and it’s the only way we bid. When we finish, you get a signed copy of our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if the paver work fails within one year, we come back and correct it at no charge.
DIY or Call Us?
Paving work isn’t dangerous the way a garage spring is, but it’s one of the easiest home projects to do wrong in a way that costs you double later. You can safely check a few things: look for cracked edge restraints, watch where water ponds after a storm, and note any pavers that have shifted. That’s useful information when you call us.
What goes wrong with DIY is everything under the pavers. Core drilling a Los Angeles clay base, getting the compaction right in lifts, setting the proper pitch for drainage, and choosing the right bedding depth for your Techo-Bloc product isn’t guesswork you want to learn on your own driveway. When the base fails, you’re not buying new pavers; you’re paying for demolition, haul-away, and a full re-install. If you’re seeing any of the signs above, call (903) 568-7222 and we’ll look at it. Straight number, real scope, no surprises at the punch list.
FAQs

Techo-Bloc concrete pavers typically carry a lifetime warranty against manufacturing defects and will realistically last 25 to 40 years in Los Angeles if the base was installed correctly. The base is the variable; a poorly compacted base can show failure within two years while the pavers themselves are still fine. Call (903) 568-7222 if you’re seeing failure signs and we’ll assess the whole system, not just the surface.
Yes, in most cases a damaged Techo-Bloc driveway can be repaired if the failure is in the pavers, edge restraints, or isolated sections of the base. Full replacement becomes necessary only when large areas of the subgrade have failed or when the original installation used the wrong paver thickness for the load. We’ll always quote the repair option before we quote the teardown.
Most residential paver driveway replacements in Los Angeles take four to seven working days from demolition to final plate compaction. Weather, access, and curing time for any concrete borders can extend that. We sequence the job so you’re never without a usable driveway for more than a few days at a stretch.
Yes, we keep an inventory of common Techo-Bloc colors and sizes for the Blu 60, Blu 80, and Victorien lines, and we can order any other Techo-Bloc SKU from our Los Angeles supply partners within days. If you have a specific paver you need matched, call (903) 568-7222 with the product code from the underside of one of your existing pavers, and we’ll confirm availability and price on the spot.
