Tremron Windows & Doors: The Los Angeles Owner’s Guide

If you have a Tremron window or door with a failed part, here’s the straight answer: we stock and install Tremron-compatible replacement components across Los Angeles, with most window parts running $145 to $425 installed and door hardware or weather-seal work falling in the $110 to $380 range. Full sash or panel replacements sit higher, usually $590 to $1,180 depending on size and glass package. Most Los Angeles homeowners discover the failure the same way: a window that won’t stay up, a door that drags against the jamb, a lock that spins without catching, or a seal that’s letting dust and outside air through. The good news is that Tremron used fairly standard hardware across much of its product line, which means we can usually match the part the first time.

Bradford Remodeling is an independent service provider, not affiliated with Tremron. We match parts by spec, not by brand loyalty, and we put the price in writing before any work starts.

Which Tremron Models This Applies To

Tremron’s Los Angeles installs span three main product families: the 5000 Series (builders’ grade, aluminum-framed sliders and single-hungs), the 8000 Series (vinyl-framed, double-pane, the most common in mid-90s through early-2000s tract housing), and the 9000 Series (heavier extrusion, used on multi-panel patio doors and larger fixed windows). Here’s the gotcha most owners run into: the 5000 and 8000 Series share the same balance spring cartridge but use different lock keepers, so a part that looks identical in a photo will not seat correctly across both lines. You can’t reliably identify the model by eye.

Find the label first. On windows, it’s etched or stickered on the top rail of the sash, and you may need to tilt the sash in to see it. On doors, look at the hinge edge or the bottom corner of the door slab. That label carries a four-digit series prefix and a build date, and that’s what we use to pull the right part. If the label is gone, we measure the balance channel width and the keeper screw spacing, because those two numbers narrow it down almost every time.

On the OEM-versus-aftermarket question for Tremron specifically: the original balance cartridges and roller assemblies were sourced from two national hardware manufacturers, and those exact parts are still made today, so we usually install true OEM-spec components rather than generics. That distinction matters in Los Angeles, because aftermarket vinyl rollers with unsealed bearings wear out twice as fast here. The fine dust in the air works its way into the bearings, and within two or three years the door starts grinding against the track again. We’ve pulled generic rollers out of Tremron frames that were flat-sided after eighteen months. The OEM-spec units last five to seven years in the same conditions.

Signs Your Tremron Windows & Doors Is Failing

  • The sash won’t stay up, or it slams down when you release it. That’s a dead balance cartridge, the most common Tremron failure we replace. The internal spring fatigues, and once one cartridge goes, the other side is usually weeks behind it.
  • The sliding door grinds, skips, or takes real force to move. The rollers under the panel have worn flat or seized. Left alone, a seized roller scores the bottom track, and that turns a $120 parts job into a track replacement that costs considerably more.
  • You can see daylight or feel a draft around the sash or door edge. The weatherstripping or the pile seal has compressed past its service life. Los Angeles sun and heat harden the vinyl pile faster than the manufacturer’s predicted lifespan, especially on west-facing walls.
  • The lock or latch spins freely or won’t engage the keeper. Tremron used a cast-in lock mechanism on the 8000 Series that strips internally over time, and the repair is a lock assembly swap, not a single screw. It’s a known failure point, not something you’re causing by using the door hard.
  • Condensation or haze forms inside the double pane. That means the seal between the two panes has failed, and on a Tremron the fix is a replacement sash or door panel. There’s no field repair for a lost argon seal, no matter what a handyman might tell you.

Replacement Cost & What’s Included

A home office with a built-in desk and shelves

For Los Angeles Tremron parts and labor, here are the installed numbers we give out before anyone schedules a visit:

  • Balance cartridge replacement: $145 to $285 per window, including both cartridges and labor. We replace both sides even if only one failed, because a mismatched pair causes uneven wear in under a year.
  • Sliding door roller replacement: $190 to $340 per panel, including OEM-spec rollers and track cleaning. If the track is scored, we’ll tell you before we touch anything else, because the price changes when the track has to come out.
  • Weatherstripping and seal replacement: $110 to $380 depending on how many edges and which material type. West-facing doors and windows in Los Angeles usually need the full package.
  • Lock and keeper replacement: $125 to $260, parts included.
  • Full sash or door panel replacement: $590 to $1,180, depending on glass package and size. Sash replacements include new seals and balances as a set.

Every one of those numbers is a written price before work starts, not an estimate that drifts. Parts and labor are broken out separately on the invoice so you can see exactly what the hardware costs and exactly what our time costs. The workmanship and the parts are covered by our 365-Day Done Right Promise: if anything we installed fails within a year, we come back and make it right at no charge. That’s in writing, on the invoice, with the scope line by line.

DIY or Call Us?

Some Tremron work is genuinely owner-level. You can clean the track on a sliding door, re-tension a loose door hinge, or replace a stripped knob set with basic hand tools, and none of that requires a service call. Those are good places to start, and if they solve the problem, you’ve spent an hour and saved the trip charge.

Where DIY goes wrong on Tremron parts is the balance cartridge inside a vinyl window. The old cartridge sits under spring tension, and getting it out without right-angle removal tools usually leads to cracked vinyl, a scratched frame, or a jammed spring that shoves back when you least expect it. Same caution applies to the door: a sliding panel weighs 100 to 160 pounds, and lifting it off the track without a second set of hands and a padded drop cloth ends in a broken glass panel, which triples the job cost. If the fix requires tilting the sash, lifting the door, or working against a spring, call us at (903) 568-7222. We’ll bring the right part and the right tool the first time.
